Video: NEW--Treasure Hunt clues

Launch Videos

For over 50 years the Pioneer Press has put on a treasure hunt for it's readers. Thousands of people scatter throughout St. Paul parks digging through snow in the subzero temperature looking for a medallion worth 10k, often in the middle of the night. Documentaries have been made about the event and many 'treasure hunters' and entire families take the week off to search. Each a day a clue is published (12 in total), and this year--for the first time--I produced daily video versions of the clues.

The clue videos star the actual clue writer--someone who by tradition remains anonymous, even to most people at the newspaper (past writers have gone public but not until they retire from their gig). I had more fun shooting these videos than just about anything I've done. I think mostly cause they're just ridiculous and don't resemble journalism in the slightest (videos 7 and 9 are my personal favorites...).
